This website has been developed by the Assets for
Youth work group of the Charlottesville/Albemarle
Commission on Children and Families (CCF) as a step
toward increasing access to local programs.
This website contains information about selected
community-based after-school programs and activities
that are low-cost or free. Check with your child's
school about any available after-school or enrichment
programs that have not been included here. Most schools
have site-specific programs for their students at little
to no cost.
CCF has attempted to provide up-to-date and accurate
information, but may have missed some programs.
Please call CCF at 434-872-4545 if you know of a program
that should be listed in future publications.
As background, the Assets on Youth Work Group was
created in September 2003 to advise the Commission and
the localities on issues related to youth access to and
participation in productive out of school activities.
While CCF research indicated that many young people in
the community were connected to positive enrichment,
community service and after-school programs, at-risk and
low-income youth participated in these activities at a
lower level than most middle and high-school students.
